The University District Parking and Business Improvementr Area (UDBIA) was established in November 1996 by Seattle City Council after being approved by a 60% majority of all businesses and property owners within the specific boundaries established.
The UDBIA provides infrastructure related services (sidewalk cleaning, alley sanitizing, graffiti abatement, security, and beautification). It is funded by revenues collected by the City of Seattle from all businesses and property owners within the geographic boundaries. Additional funding is acquired for specific programs through grants.
The UDBIA is administered by the Greater University Chamber of Commerce.
